Overview

As a Senior Network Operations Center Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design and maintenance of our intricate system environment, catering to both internal operations and customer-facing multi-tenant platforms. Your expertise will encompass cloud, hybrid cloud, and on-premise architectures, involving the meticulous gathering of requirements and selecting the most fitting platform.

You will serve as a Tier 2/3 escalation point for our 24/7 staffed NOC engineers, overseeing fault and performance monitoring for critical hardware and software infrastructure. This includes processing alerts, suppression requests, and monitoring various elements such as servers, OS, network devices, bandwidth, applications, databases, and end-user experiences. Collaboration with sales, internal network engineering, field engineering, accounting, external service providers, equipment vendors, and clients is essential for successful day-to-day NOC operations.

Our NOC engineers act as central points of contact for network trouble and problem escalation notifications, often requiring work shifts covering overnight, weekends, and holidays. This challenging yet impactful role significantly contributes to the success of our clients, their employees, and their customers.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with system and network architects for designing and implementing enterprise systems.

  • Project managing and leading cross-departmental virtual teams in design and implementation efforts.

  • Creating frameworks, policies, and procedures to ensure system fitness, proper maintenance, and security.

  • Staying informed on the latest spam and malware threats for proactive prevention and assistance.

  • Overseeing day-to-day monitoring and response to alarms, fault and performance management activities.

  • Managing enterprise-level patching and smoke testing of client systems.

  • Overseeing backup and disaster recovery services for fast and effective recovery.

  • Handling daily challenges associated with IT and network repair activities during impacting events.

  • Partnering with peer organizations for swift resolution of service-impacting events.

  • Participating in change management, incident review, and root cause analysis.

  • Managing ticket assignments and escalations for thorough and timely outcomes.

  • Working to improve the Operational Maturity Level of the NOC and the company.

Qualifications

  • Architect skill level on a few with Tier 3 skill on most others.

  • MSP experience is a big plus

 

Infrastructure:

  • Microsoft Operating Systems – All desktop and server versions.

  • Hypervisor technologies (VMWare, Microsoft Hyper-V) on both traditional and Hyperconverged Infrastructures.

Networking:

  • TCP/IP, Routing Protocols, DHCP, VLANs, VPN, DNS, SD-WAN.

  • Firewall Technologies – Palo Alto, Fortinet, Juniper, SonicWALL, Cisco.

  • Switches Technologies Meraki, Aruba,

  • Wireless Technologies.

 

Systems:

 

  • Microsoft Platform Systems – Active Directory, IIS, Exchange, SQL, SharePoint, RDS/Terminal Services, and SCCM.

  • Azure and Microsoft Office 365 conversions from on-premise to cloud and supporting cloud and hybrid-cloud instances.

  • Working Knowledge of PowerShell Scripting.

  • Remote Management and Monitoring (RMM)

  • Auvik


Management Frameworks:
 

  • Project Management.

  • ITIL


Preferred Certifications:
 

VMWare, MCSA/MSCE, CCNA/CCDA, CISSP, ITIL, Project+, Network+, A+.
